Meet Our Founder
“When I was hard pressed, I cried to the Lord, and He took me to a spacious place.” Psalm 118:5
Elise Knicely is a native of Atlanta, GA. She developed a love of the outdoors and sports with summers full of camps and activities with her two sisters. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Elise spent several years working in the corporate sector as a change management consultant and brand strategist, followed by a four month backpacking trip across the globe, covering all but 1 continent. She spent her time exploring, as well as shadowing non-profits in different countries to observe their day-to-day operations. She focused most of her efforts on preventing young girls from entering into a life of exploitation and the sex trade by coaching sports and leading outdoor activities. After a transformational trip to India, Elise returned to the States with a new purpose and drive to serve and empower women that have experienced oppression, violence, and suffering.
After years of conversation, counsel, and careful planning, Elise founded She Is ABLE with the hope that the powerful freeing components of the outdoors paired with the physical accomplishment will transform the lives of women who have been marginalized, forgotten, and abused. It is her greatest desire to see women of all walks of life experience freedom, confidence, and transformation; and that they would know that they are capable, loved, advocated for, and valued.
